Health Research in Africa (HRA) is an open-access, monthly, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary medical journal published by Afrimvoe Medical Services, Yaoundé, Cameroon. HRA is partnered with Health Sciences and Disease, the official publication of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (FMBS) of the University of Yaoundé I.
Our Mission
To fill critical gaps in health data from Africa and other low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) worldwide, by publishing high-quality, actionable research that can improve clinical practice, health policy, and public health outcomes.
Our Scope
HRA covers all aspects of medicine, pharmacy, biomedical and health sciences, including health technologies, public health, and societal issues. We prioritize applied research with demonstrated or potential impact on health in resource-constrained settings.
Geographic Inclusivity
While HRA's name reflects our primary focus on Africa, we welcome submissions from all regions of the world, provided the research addresses health priorities relevant to LMICs. We believe that scientific knowledge is universal and that cross-regional collaboration strengthens the global health community.
Our Values
- Excellence: We uphold the highest standards of editorial and scientific quality.
- Integrity: We adhere to the ethical principles of the ICMJE, WAME, COPE, and CSE.
- Relevance: We prioritize research that addresses the most pressing health challenges in low-resource settings.
- Collaboration: We foster partnerships with authors, reviewers, and institutions worldwide.
- Open Access: We believe in the free and unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge.
Indexing
HRA is indexed in Scopus and other major databases
