This issue brings together 27 articles from twelve countries in sub-Saharan Africa (Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Gabon, Guinea, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Benin). It offers a broad overview of clinical and epidemiological research on the continent, combining methodological rigour with a firm grounding in local realities.
