RÉSUMÉ
Nous rapportons 3 cas de carcinome épidermoïde de la conjonctive chez des sujets jeunes, tous admis et traités au service d’Ophtalmologie de l’Hôpital National de Zinder au Niger. Il s’agissait de tumeur unilatérale surélevée, bourgeonnante avec des vaisseaux nourriciers visibles et saignant au contact. Le carcinome épidermoïde de la conjonctive a été suspecté dans tous les cas. Il a été procédé à une exérèse jugée la plus complète, une cautérisation soigneuse au lit scléral avec examen histopathologique des pièces opératoires confirmant le diagnostic. Il n’a pas été utilisé d’autres traitements adjuvants pour le contrôle carcinologique. L’évolution était bonne à court terme dans deux cas, mais une récidive est survenue avec fonte du globe oculaire dans un cas. Un traitement prompt, une sensibilisation de la population pour une consultation précoce et surveillance des facteurs de risque sont nécessaires.
ABSTRACT
We report three cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the conjunctiva in young patients, all admitted and treated at the Ophthalmology Department of the National Hospital in Zinder, Niger. These were unilateral, raised, budding tumors with visible feeding vessels that bled on contact. Squamous cell carcinoma of the conjunctiva was suspected in all cases. The most complete excision possible was performed, followed by careful cauterization of the scleral bed and histopathological examination of the surgical specimens, which confirmed the diagnosis. No other adjuvant treatments were used for cancer control. The short-term outcome was good in two cases, but recurrence occurred with melting of the eyeball in one case. Prompt treatment, public awareness of the need for early consultation, and monitoring of risk factors are necessary.
