ABSTRACT
This issue presents 25 studies from ten sub-Saharan African countries. On chronic diseases, a Congolese study reveals the severity of obese diabetes, while Cameroonian research identifies sepsis as the primary factor in geriatric mortality. In public health, scientific validation of Senegalese chewing sticks accompanies warnings about overdosed cosmetics in Côte d'Ivoire. Regarding infections, a Burkinabè investigation demonstrates tuberculosis-fibrosis interplay among artisanal miners, and Central African surveillance reveals persistent bovine tuberculosis. Innovations abound: new Chadian corneal pachymetry values, functional sequelae after multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in Cameroon, devastating impact of Fournier's gangrene on sexuality in Côte d'Ivoire. Remarkable case reports complete this panorama of a dynamic African health research, challenging clinicians, researchers, and decision-makers.
RÉSUMÉ
Ce numéro rassemble 25 travaux de dix pays d'Afrique subsaharienne. En maladies chroniques, une étude congolaise révèle la sévérité du diabète obèse, tandis qu'une recherche camerounaise identifie le sepsis comme premier facteur de mortalité gériatrique. En santé publique, la validation scientifique des bâtonnets frotte-dents sénégalais côtoie l'alerte sur les cosmétiques surdosés en Côte d'Ivoire. Face aux infections, une enquête burkinabè démontre l'intrication tuberculose-fibrose chez les orpailleurs, et la surveillance des abattoirs en république centrafricaine révèle une tuberculose bovine persistante. Les innovations abondent : nouvelles valeurs pachymétriques cornéennes tchadiennes, séquelles fonctionnelles post-tuberculose multirésistante au Cameroun, impact dévastateur de la gangrène de Fournier sur la sexualité en Côte d'Ivoire. Des cas cliniques remarquables complètent ce panorama d'une recherche médicale africaine dynamique, qui interpelle cliniciens, chercheurs et décideurs.
