ABSTRACT
Acquired naso-labial clefts in children are a rare but clinically significant entity. They can result from facial trauma, and their management presents a challenge for the practitioner. We report a case of acquired nasolabial cleft in a child with a particular mechanism of injury, a horse hoof blow. Surgical management involved suturing of the orbicularis oris muscle, realignment of the alar border, and skin closure following aesthetic tension lines. Postoperative outcomes were favorable, with uncomplicated healing and no functional limitation of the lip. This uncommon mechanism, rarely reported in the scientific literature, is more likely to occur in rural areas such as Sédhiou in southern Senegal, where donkeys and horses are commonly used for agricultural or domestic activities.
