Orbital Metastasis of Lobular Breast Carcinoma: A Case Report

RÉSUMÉ
Les métastases de l’orbite sont rares. Elles peuvent être révélatrices d’un cancer ou survenir au cours de l’évolution d’un cancer déjà connu. Des symptômes tels que la rougeur, la douleur, l’exophtalmie peuvent être des manifestations d’une métastase orbitaire. Nous rapportons le cas d’une patiente de 49ans qui a présenté une lésion tumorale orbitaire révélée par un œdème péri orbitaire associée à des troubles visuels et une exophtalmie dont la nature métastatique a été confirmée par une étude histologique et immunohistochimique. Le traitement a consisté en une irradiation locale associée à des traitements systémiques. Les métastases orbitaires doivent être reconnues et traitées afin de préserver le pronostic visuel et la qualité de vie des patients.
ABSTRACT
Orbital metastases are rare and can either indicate the presence of an underlying cancer or occur during the progression of a pre-existing cancer. Redness, pain, and exophthalmos may be signs of orbital metastasis. We present the case of a 49-year-old woman who developed an orbital tumor, initially identified by peri-orbital edema, along with visual disturbances and exophthalmos. The metastatic nature of the lesion was confirmed through histological and immunohistochemical examination. Treatment involved local radiation therapy combined with systemic therapy. Orbital metastases should be promptly recognized and managed to preserve visual function and the patient's quality of life.
